Welcome to digitalmaniac.net The aim here is to explore all things done digitally, from comic
book art to 3D to just plain prose.
Long ago in the before time I was a traditional inker of comics trying to break in and make a
name for myself. The competition was stiff and I came up wanting at the big time. I did find
some work for independents but not enough to make a career of it. Then I discovered the
wonders of the Wacom tablet. I was hooked and began my crossover to the Dark Side. With
the tablet and Photoshop or Illustrator it became possible to draw directly into the computer
and eliminate the pencil and paper stage.
Some of the forums dedicated to traditional inking ignored and would not comment on my
work posted there. Who could blame them; they were seeing their livelihood disappearing in
the same way that traditional colorists had watched theirs drift away to the power of the PC.
While this site is dedicated to all things digital I will be putting up some of my traditional stuff
because it was a part of my life that I worked hard on and enjoyed.
In case you're wondering about the two heroic types at the top of this page they are the
same character that I have named Mindforce. He was created from an accident with an
interstellar object who is amazingly long lived. The one on the left is the present day original
that I created in a novel that was self-published but had little sales because (as I later
concluded) it had the wrong title and needed a serious rewrite. The prologue to the novel is
in the Stories section and will be offered in it's entirety in some manner yet to be determined
either on disk or as a downloadable PDF.
The dude on the right is Mindforce 7000 years later. I've tagged him as M7k for short to
differentiate him from the original who I've tagged as M2k in my files. One of his adventures
will be ready soon in the comics section. I hope you will be patient while I get the pages
ready and will keep checking back from time to time. If you belong to Comicspace.com I'll be
making announcements there as things progress. If you're not a member go over and sign
up; you won't be left wanting.
Click on the Blog button above and go to where I record what's on my mind that day. This
will be updated daily if possible though I can't promise what I may rant on. Leave a comment
no matter whether you agree or disagree. I don't bite.
After you've toured my website click on the Forum button and be taken to the new Digital
Maniac forum where you can leave your thoughts. You don't have to register to leave a
comment but consider it anyway and help me build up membership. Please understand that
young people may surf to this site and if you are going to leave links to porno sites you'll
force me to delete your entry. I appreciate any feedback just keep it clean.
